Carmen refuses to belong to anyone. She chooses her desires, her loves, her destiny. Carmen fascinates because she is free. Absolutely and uncompromisingly free.
Around her resonate the bewitching melodies of Manuel de Falla’s El amor brujo (Love, the Sorcerer). Two works, two worlds, one and the same woman confronted with the male gaze, the weight of tradition and the violence of possessiveness. Between passion, desire, jealousy and fate, this performance brings to life a story that remains powerfully relevant today: that of a woman who will pay for her freedom with her life, because she chose to say no, because she never accepted being possessed, because she remained free until her very last breath.
A Sevillian evening following the performance on Saturday, 20 February, with an optional dinner: paella and a drink.
