Locura (“madness” in Spanish) grew out of the collaboration between Mourad Merzouki and Franck-Emmanuel Comte on Folia, first presented at the Nuits de Fourvière festival in 2018. With this new creation, Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu deepens and extends the unique dialogue between Baroque music and hip-hop dance.
Locura explores human madness not as a loss of control, but as a force for freedom and openness. The impulse to cross geographical, cultural, artistic and inner boundaries becomes a source of vitality and inspiration. By celebrating creative madness, the performance invites us to welcome others and recognise a part of ourselves in them. An artistic and poetic ritual reminding us that, despite its divisions, humanity continues to strive for unity.
