Black Cat, White Cat is an irresistible comedy by Emir Kusturica, a dazzling explosion of music, madness and poetry.
On the banks of the Danube, endearing con artists, outrageous gangsters, Roma families, improbable weddings and thwarted love affairs collide in a whirlwind of joyful chaos and unpredictable twists.
When a small-time crook falls into the clutches of a ruthless mobster, his son is forced to marry a young woman he does not love. But in Kusturica’s world, nothing goes according to plan: the dead refuse to stay dead, lovers defy fate, brass bands never stop playing, and every disaster turns into a celebration.
Funny, exuberant and deeply human, Black Cat, White Cat is an ode to freedom, love and whimsy. Bursting with infectious energy, this cult classic celebrates life in all its wild excess, where laughter always triumphs over chaos.
