16th Chants d’Hiver et de Femmes Festival
With La Tarde, Mandy Lerouge continues her sensitive exploration of Argentine musical traditions, inviting Fleurs Noires, an all-female French-Argentine tango orchestra.
At the heart of this creation lies the fascinating story of Antoinette Pépin, a French composer who long remained in the shadow of her husband, the celebrated Argentine poet Atahualpa Yupanqui. She composed under the male pseudonym Pablo del Cerro, the name later given to Mandy Lerouge’s first project.
With this new project, Mandy Lerouge continues her research and her work to bring Antoinette Pépin’s compositions to light through powerful, sensitive and original arrangements by Andrea Marsili, composer, pianist and artistic director of Fleurs Noires.
An intense and luminous musical journey between tradition, contemporary creation and the rediscovery of a female musical heritage that has become emblematic far beyond Argentina’s borders.
